Giancarlo Norese

(Italy, 1963)

1) I lived for six months under a table;

2) I’ve been looking for a formless form of art;

3) I found an imaginary place that really exists.

I am interested to the contradictions of both real and metaphorical spaces, to the “self-generated” beauty (by chance or necessity), to the “errata” of the landscape, to a formless form of art. I would like to display an anti-monumental investigation on fragility, chaos, precariousness, equilibrium, debris and other “mistakes” meant as anomalies that bear a symbolic value capable of questioning our certainties, but that at the same time generating warmth, closeness and sense of belonging to the community.

These projects are dealing with minimal and featherlight actions that help us remember who we are, or who we could become. This is a starting point to rethink the local dimension and its symbolic potential in opposition to spatial and cultural standardization. “‘Architectural errata” are the contrary of the non-places, without nevertheless being monuments: they are hybrids that crystallize the tension between global and local and that evade the standardizing town planning trends.

Ho incontrato Maurizio per caso una notte a Bologna, e sempre per caso l’ho rivisto nuovamente, in altre notti e in altre città.

Dedico a lui questo video, e alle persone che sanno immaginare un futuro che non sia già stato preparato da altri.
